Music on my Mind

This song touches my heart right now, I hope it touches yours.

Sweet Baby

I am asking for your prayers for this sweet baby boy. He was born last Friday and I was lucky enough to be able to visit with him and his mom that evening. Little Denali was born with downs syndrome and some heart problems. Shortly after my visit Denali was taken to the NICU and put on oxygen and has been there ever since. He has blue blood mixing with red blood and one of the parts of his heart are enlarged. Right now the Dr's are just watching him and doing echo's every few days to check for change. Last night Denali started running a fever and his respiration's are now quite fast. I ask for prayers for him that God would be with his family, his dr's and him so that this blessing can be brought home where he has a big sister and brother who can't wait to love on him.

Blessed Beyond Measure-- this is long

Ok I've been reading Lysa's post for the last 2 days (if you haven't read them here's post 1 and post 2 ) and I know where her friend is at. Let me share a little more insight the past few years for our family.
In March 2007 my husband went to the hospital with appendicitis, the Dr decided surgery would be the best option and it was done the next morning. Surgery went fine, appendix came out, was able to be done in the least invasive way everything we had hoped for. They kept him the rest of that day and told us they would discharge him the next day.
Next day comes around and he's complaining of having trouble breathing, he's told its probably a side effect of the anesthesia combined with his asthma. They send him home telling us not to worry about it. We were not home for more than an hr before he started coughing up large quantities of bright red blood.Back to the ER we went, many hrs and tests later we had no answer but we had a referral to a palmonology
We meet with him and find out that his lungs are are not functioning properly, that he has already lost 35% of his lung function, but with meds he could slow the progression. Now fast forward 6 months my husband starts having increased dizzy spells, passing out at work and more trouble breathing.
Back to the hospital where he stays for a few days while more tests are done and still no answers to what is going on. His work won't let him come back till the Dd says the passing out has been "cured". So he goes on medical leave and we make plans to scale back.
By December we still had no answers and his work released him, so we went from reduced income to no income. We were seeing specialist after specialist now with no insurance to cover appointments or medicines. By March the bank wasn't willing to work with us and decided to start foreclosure proceedings. While all this was going on I was having terrible headaches but my Dr and I figured it was all stress related and nothing much was done, until I blacked out in the shower and landed myself in the ER.
We found out quite quickly that the headaches were more then stress, I have this wonderful condition that allows my CF fluid to build up and put a lot of extra pressure on my brain plus a small heart condition where my heart likes to accelerate to a rapid heart rate (often over 180 a min) then decelerate to my normal rate around 40 beats.
By playing with my husbands meds they were able to better control his weak spells and almost eliminate his passing out though they are still to this day not sure what is behind all this. But this came after we had lost all our savings and the house.
My husband is now back to work, we have found a wonderful house to rent and for the most part our health is stable. I can say that even when it felt like the bottom had fallen out of my world I knew that God was the only one holding it together. We are still going through tough times and I know the only light in these dark days is Him. i know when i cry out to Him, He hears me. He might not always do as I ask but He loves me more than life itself and will get me through it.
Lysa asked for bible verses and I have a journal full of them. I wrote them down whenever I came to them those dark days to reassure myself that He would see my family through. So here are some of my favorite verses:
God is greater than our hearts and he knows everything." -1 John 3:20
"Don't ever worry and say, 'What are we going to eat?' or 'What are we going to drink?' or 'What are we going to wear?' Everyone is concerned about these things, and your heavenly Father certainly knows you need all of them. But first, be concerned about his kingdom and what has his approval. Then all these things will be provided for you
.Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.Matthew 6:31-34
"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28
Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. 1 Peter5:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:5-6
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. James 1:2-4
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Psalms 46:1-3
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. Isaiah 43:2
Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40: 28-31
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. Proverbs 3:5
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too. 2 Corinthians 1:3-5
But, as it is written, "What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him" 1 Corinthians 2:9

Have you tasted My Jesus

Ok like I said before my brain is fried...... I'm having a tough enough time homeschooling the kids right now let alone actually having thoughts that turn themselves into eloquent sentences. So I've decided to post a few things that I've recieved as emails.... stories and thoughts made to inspire and encourage us all. Since my thoughts might read like a Dr Suess story, except not that cute or creative....

At the University of Chicago Divinity School each year they have what is called "Baptist Day". It is a day when all the Baptists in the area are invited to the school because they want the Baptist dollars to keep coming in.

On this day each one is to bring a lunch to be eaten outdoors in a grassy picnic area. Every "Baptist Day" the school would invite one of the greatest minds to lecture in the theological education center. One year they invited Dr.Paul Tillich. Dr. Tillich spoke for two and one-half hours proving that the resurrection of Jesus was false. He quoted scholar after scholar and book after book. He concluded that since there was no such thing as the historical resurrection the religious tradition of the church was groundless, emotional mumbo-jumbo, because it was based on a relationship with a risen Jesus, who, in fact, never rose from the dead in any literal sense. He then asked if there were any questions.

After about 30 seconds, an old, dark skinned preacher with a head of short-cropped, woolly white hair stood up in the back of the auditorium.

Docta Tillich, I got one question, he said as all eyes turned toward him.

He reached into his sack lunch and pulled out an apple and began eating it. Docta Tillich ... CRUNCH, MUNCH ... My question is a simple question, CRUNCH, MUNCH ...Now, I ain't never read them books you read... CRUNCH, MUNCH ...and I can't recite the Scriptures in the original Greek ... CRUNCH, MUNCH ...I don't know nothin' about Niebuhr and Heidegger ... CRUNCH, MUNCH ...He finished the apple. All I wanna know is: This apple I just ate,------was it bitter or sweet?

Dr. Tillich paused for a moment and answered in exemplary scholarly fashion: I cannot possibly answer that question, for I haven't tasted your apple.

The white-haired preacher dropped the core of his apple into his crumpled paper bag, looked up at Dr. Tillich and said calmly, Neither have you tasted my Jesus.

The 1,000 plus in attendance could not contain themselves. The auditorium erupted with applause and cheers. Dr.Tillich thanked his audience and promptly left the platform.

Have you tasted Jesus? In Psalms 34:8 we read: Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him.

If you have, rejoice in the hope of the resurrection that your faith in Him brings.

Commandments 11-20

I got this from a friend and wanted to share it with all of you since I'm having brain fry right now.

11th- Thou shalt not worry, for worry is the most unproductive of all human activities.

12th-Thou shalt not be fearful, for most of the things we fear never come to pass.

13th-Thou shalt not cross bridges before you come to them, for no one has yet succeeded in accomplishing this.

14th-Thou shalt handle only one problem at a time, and leave the others to the Lord until their turn comes up.

15th-Thou shalt not take troubles to bed with you,for they make very poor bedfellows.

16th-Thou shalt not try to carry the problems of the world on your shoulders, for nobody (execpt for One) has a back that is broad enough.

17th-Thou shalt be a good listener, for God often speaks to us through the mouths of others.

18th-Thou shalt not try to relive yesterday; for good or ill,it is forever gone. Live in the now,and rejoice in it.

19th-Thou shalt firmly dismiss feelings of frustration, for 90% of it is rooted in self-pity and will interfere with positive action.

20th-Thou shalt count thy blessings, never overlooking the smallest, for our biggest blessings are composed of many small ones.
